About Me
Hello World! Currently, I am a full-time student at Virginia Tech while working on my Etsy shop, CampbellCrochetCo. I will be finishing my undergraduate degree in Computer Science in Summer 2024. I will be graduating with 2 minors: Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and Spanish. I love studying at VT! The community is so welcoming and the courses are challenging.
User experience (UX) and user design are my passions. I am drawn to UX because of the user-centered focus. I love creating for the user while helping to make processes more efficient for the company. My favorite method of designing for the user is through design thinking. Growing up, computers were difficult to use and it turned me away from computer science. I struggled to understand how to operate the machines, and it often caused issues. I firmly believe that everyone deserves access to computers and programs that are easy to use and help solve the problem they intend to, without creating new issues. I love the research that goes into UX to make sure that the program, or other project, being built is created in a way to help the user and the company.
Computer science calls to me because of the community and problem-solving aspects. I am most comfortable with Java and C and am loosely comfortable with Python and Assembly. I am also familiar with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. I am also familiar with SalesForce technologies including Lighting Web Components from my time at The Home Depot. I also love working on different OOP-Projects! I also attended GHC 2022 and GHC 2023 and was able to meet with so many amazing people!
In my spare time, I work on my Etsy shop, CampbelLCrochetCo. I also run my crochet Instagram account, @campbell.crochet. I love crocheting and doing commissions and craft fairs in my spare time. I also enjoy playing video games. Right now, I am obsessed with Overwatch 2, Deep Rock Galactic and Darktide.
